Brand Ambassadors

Red Dog

Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, this environmentally sensitive pup had his first vet experiences without his guardians by his side, due to the safety protocols of the time. After several challenging visits - and a neuter that took place during his fear period - veterinary care quickly became something he found incredibly overwhelming.

Thankfully, his guardians discovered a Calm Care certified clinic, where his care team took the time to understand his needs and created a flexible support protocol designed to keep him comfortably below his threshold. Rather than pushing through fear, his team worked at his pace, helping him to build trust and confidence one experience at a time.

While the veterinary clinic may never be his favorite destination, he is now significantly more comfortable with the treatments he needs - and one of his biggest wins is that he can even walk into the clinic on his own!

His story proves that compassionate, individualized care can transform the veterinary experience and help even our most fearful patients feel safer, more confident, and more in control.

Vida

Vida's story began in Antigua, where she was found severely malnourished and suffering from septic arthritis. Because the local veterinary equipment wasn't large enough to fully evaluate her condition, a rescue organization reached out to U.S.-based partners for help. Vida made an incredible journey—from Antigua to Miami by plane, then by car to Chicago—where she was welcomed into Dr. Baker's family as a foster. It didn't take long before she found her forever home.

With dedicated veterinary care, patience, and love, Vida overcame her septic arthritis and has gone on to do something extraordinary. Today, she is a certified therapy dog who visits schools and healthcare facilities, bringing comfort, hope, and healing while inspiring others with her remarkable resilience.

Although her past means some medical procedures can still be uncomfortable, Calm Care has become an important part of her veterinary visits, helping her stay relaxed and comfortable during potentially painful treatments. Vida's journey is a testament to the power of compassion, second chances, and low stress care—and we're honored to have her as a Calm Care Brand Ambassador.

June

Born in 2008, this resilient kitty experienced veterinary medicine long before a gentler approach became more common. After surviving life on the streets of Michigan, she endured a severe eye infection that ultimately required enucleation, followed by nearly two months of hospitalization while waiting for a family to call her own. Those early experiences left her understandably fearful, and for years she required injectable sedation just to complete a physical exam and collect routine lab work.

Everything changed when her veterinary team embraced a Calm Care approach. With thoughtful planning, gabapentin before visits, gentle modified restraint using towels and an e-collar instead of a muzzle, and plenty of Churu treats, she can now comfortably complete her exams and diagnostics without additional sedation.

For her guardian, these low-stress visits are about so much more than convenience—they make it possible to monitor her health consistently, catch problems early, and give her the comfort and quality of life she deserves throughout her golden years. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to change an animal’s relationship with veterinary care.
